Or in my case :-( as there will be gradually be more daylight and consequently less darkness, oh, and getting warmer for the next half year or so....Bleah!!!
Oh, and why do people you have never met or usually converse with automatically say Happy Christmas to everyone they meet?....like do they give a fuq ?....and around here most of the people saying it are not even Christians...
People are still killing each other around the world, During this season, fights in the High street increase, burgalaries and shoplifting figures go out of the window, more people than usual get attacked or robbed whilst pissed by dodgy "Cab" drivers waiting in the wings at closing time... and all the shops (bar one, his answer was "I am a 24 hour shop and I never close") and pubs open and close at totally weird times, it`s a load of Bolloxs....
Feel good factor?...CRAP ...most people are worried about trying to get out of the debt that Christmas has caused them...oh and the New years celebrations, just to soak up the last of your money and get you into even more debt, that they spend the next few months recovering frugally...just in time for a holiday and then save for next Xmas....What a life !!!!
If you are not a Christian or a Shopkeeper/Manufacturer, then there is no reason to celebrate Xmas....explain to your Kids that if you want to give a present to someone you shouldn`t have to be told when it is the right time to do so and "START" breaking this "tradition" which is totally exploited beyond all reason....

Sorry that there has been no blog for a while as I have been getting a lot of things done and out of the way...plus there hasn`t been all that much to blog, so much so, that I am considering having a new section for bits that are not main news items, but more geared to projects and bits and pieces...like updates on previous events and their resulting outcomes.

Walking down the high st, the other day I see a guy pushing a barrow of rubbish with a computer on top of the bin bags across a yard....Oi...ere, are you chucking that computer? yes,..can I have it? yes...and he puts in the ground in front of me,
I open it up and look inside to find that there is no dust in any of the fans, PSU or the floppy drive...but no Ram, Hdd or Cd rom,
I see the guy coming back with hs barrow empty and asked about the "history ?" of the computer,
Oh he says...we bought it in error,
We wanted the flat computers that you can put the monitor on top of,
This one is to big to fit on the desk so it`s been skanked of a few bits, sat in the corner and forgotten about until our once a year cleaning blitz on the office and thrown out as surplus....

It turns out to be an early 1.7 Ghz Pentium 4, (423 pin) with a cache of 256 instead of the later 512...these were churned out to beat "AMD" in the race to produce 2 gig processors which they won, and then fixed the problem with the larger cache and stuck some more pins on the chips....Oh and of course new motherboards all round, and then ditched the lesser P4`s,
IIRC they were only on the market for a few months and are, as a result quite rare....
It is on a Gigabyte motherboard "GA 8SIML" the processor has the info` 1.7 256/400 fsb printed on it, Ram = DDR, I think its DDR 2700, but 2100 should work....
QSK, I was told to check out the CAS latency to be on the safe side as sometimes they don`t always behave.
I am taking the whole thing to Dekspace, a place in Greenwich owned by a friend, and hopefully am going to borrow some Ram and test the beast....Heh if it works.....it will be my best box, as the nearest was the AMD 1500 which I blew up...Hummmph fuqin USB 2 motherboard connectors:-(

The little Tossers that live in above the shopping mall have got bored with throwing eggs and stones from several floors up and threw a loading trolley from the top floor into the glass canopy that is at the front of the shops on the High st, above the *pavement....no physical injurys were sustained to the public considering the crowds, but five people went off in Ambulances suffering from shock...the building was surrounded by Police and they then disappeared into the block.....no one knows if anyone was nicked.

Ah yes....the 2600 Xmas meeting /party....We went in with "full stealth mode" to infiltrate and take over the establishment to find a couple of our guys there already and that the only other people were staff... and one customer....
When there was 6 of us the Manager politely suggested that we might go to the bar downstairs...to the very same bar that they were going to try and charge us ?200 to hire, as it was a very busy period, and with haggling maybe ?140....
around 30 people turned up over the course of the night....all our people :-)
A couple of our "young visitors" went out for a walkabout and got taught a "Streetwise" lesson after buying a 3cm ball of siver paper for ?40.00 they could have lost a lot more ;-P ....Duh.... this is just around the corner from where I got attacked by my muggers.....
