we are still waiting for our email list subscription confirmation emails - the " few days" wait, is now over a month. See our category archive of postings on this topic.

We were hoping to have been alerted by email to this recent "What's New" item on the MI5 website:

LAUNCH OF THE CENTRE FOR THE PROTECTION OF NATIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE (01/02/2007)
The National Security Advice Centre (NSAC) and the National Infrastructure Security Coordination Centre (NISCC) have merged to form the Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure (CPNI). From 1 February 2007, CPNI will provide protective security advice to businesses and organisations across the national infrastructure. Its website presents a range of security advice including information on the threats, security planning, methods of attack, protecting your assets, publications and research. To access the new CPNI website, please see www.cpni.gov.uk or click on this news item's headline.

The MI5 "What's new" page could really do with RSS and XML Syndication Feeds for blog aggregators.etc., like the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBi) has in the USA.

CPNI do publish two PGP Keys

for webmaster@niscc.gov.uk (ID:0x9DB33149)

"to verify the GnuPG signatures on CPNI signed documents."

and for uniras@niscc.gov.uk (ID:0x2C5DF2AF)

"to send Not Protectively Marked or sensitive material to CPNI "

Comments

We did actually receive an email from the MI5 What's new system !

However this was to the test account which was subscribed to the original system.

Still nothing yet from the current. modified, system - we are still waiting "a few days" for the email subscription confirmation.

is registered to MailTrack Limited in the UK, and seems to be another alias for one of their internal "Lord of the Rings" servers - merry-2.mailtrack.com

At least the email was only addressed to the email address, and did not include the First Name and Second Name which the subscription form asked for, something for which MailTrack and MI5 should be commended for.
