Senator Kennedy: I wish i could afford registered letters presently to Presidents Carter, Ford, and Nixon, but i simply can't. It's going to be very difficult to afford the ones right now which the enclosures indicate should be sent unless i hear from Ottawa.
May i ask you to see that Jimmy Carter gets copies of these enclosures and that you ask him and Ronald Reagan both to see the others get ones?

—political analyst Horace Busby, quoted in the September 1, 1986 Time column by Hugh Sidey, "Colliding with Realities".
