friends,

welcome to monday, the month of may, and episode 345! tonight finds me in dream mode - literally and figuratively. for whatever reason, my dreams (at least the grown-up-me ones) are most often anxious and fraught, and generally of the mildly not-so-pleasant variety. it's strange, because i don't think i realized this fully until i was greeted, thankfully, by a wise, compassionate, peaceful, one.

i don't know what any of this means, or doesn't mean. or if dreams themselves have any connection to reality other than random synaptic free-association?? i can go either way with this. and do. but the feeling feels worth trying to convey nonetheless.

if you have time, i really hope you'll take a listen... :)

love,
episode 343 is here, along with brand new music from san francisco singer/songwriter kelly vogel. i've been a fan of kelly's songwriting ever since i first heard her perform years back at the bazaar cafe open mic, and i'm happy and honored she's allowing me to feature her songs on the podcast. kelly has an exceptional voice - both vocally and as a songwriter/lyricist - and her songs balance melody and phrasing in an exceptionally affective (+ effective) way. kelly's new project lessons unexpected has just been released. it's really good. and deserves your support.

i hope you'll take a listen, visit the links below, and buy the songs... ;)

episode 339 is here - just me with some songs, a movie, and a poem from walt whitman. as i mentioned in the podcast, i stumbled on the film hachi: a dog's tale this past weekend, and was very pleasantly surprised, and moved, and impressed. uncommonly so. on the surface, it's a simple movie about a man and a dog - but a lot more too - a spiritual metaphor of sorts, a meditation on what it means love and lose and be here for each other... or, hm. i'm not saying it well.

i suppose the cynical part of me is a bit embarrassed to've fallen so deeply for a movie like this?? it seems. but, on the other hand, well - i did. all the way. richard gere, joan allen, and a dog named hachikō. it's great. if you don't already know the movie, i definitely recommend it!! how about this - first you should listen to epsiode 339 - and then see the movie?? in that order. deal? ;)
