Vivid on Black - Artshow
Few people know this, but I am an avid macro-photographer. Next week, I am going to be sharing about 2 years of work that I have been compiling on my Flickr account. While there are many photos on my account, this I have been holding back these particular photos for some time now. The subject is macro-photography vivid on black flowers.
Over the past 2 years I have been traveling all over the place to capture photos of interesting looking flowers at close range and put my skills to the test by requiring that every shot end up with a near black back ground.
Many of the shots in the collection where one photo that was selected from over 100 photos of the same flower. In one case, it took me all day photographing the same flower to get the shot.
The photo on the left here, is the top end of a 15 inch Dhalia that I took at this years Dhalia exhibit at the SF Botanical Gardens.
The photo on the right comes from another project that I am still working on which is vivid on white - flowers. This photo is also a Dhalia that I took at the SF Botanical Gardens. In both collections that flowers range widely and there is quite a bit of variety. Below I put a few of my favorite photos a little higher res.

Holy crap! Love the depth of field and motion on that third one. Not sure if you know this, but there is SF's largest flower wholesale emporium right down the street from you (def walking distance). They have a huge selection of orchids that might interest your eye. Talk soon...
