Hello again.

Smoke alarms ...most of you have come across the alarm that goes off at the slightest thing, ie you can't even boil a damned kettle with out it going off, just like the alarm I have....so...

I made a Remote fire alarm switch.
I pulled open the alarm and saw that the silence button was a blob of metal and a springy metal strip, the two touch and the alarm goes quiet for ten minutes, I turned over the circuit board and soldered a piece of bell wire to the two points and connected the other ends to a doorbell push switch, this was mounted in the kitchen near the cooker.

I put the alarm back together and back to where it lives in the hall.
I tested it out making a fried egg sarnie and it works :-)
Next thing I want to do is try making it work with a remote control device.

Recycling gone mad...

Thats it for now
thanks for reading.
Yours

Hi everyone,
I have been very busy one way or another, hence if you are a regular reader you will notice that my blogs sometimes go up in little batches every few days.

-----------

Kids, or anyone else for that matter....do yourselves a favour Don`t "PLAY" with guns.

:-)

There is a bunch of "Role play gamers" that I know, and one of them was pratting about with a blank firing 8mm semi auto pistol,

He stuck it into his waistband down the front of his trousers and went to pull it out....and yeah you guessed it....he accidently pulled the trigger,
he had the gun angled away from the family jewels but...

A- there was a round in the breach
B- the round was *nitro powder and not black powder
C- the safety was off
D- "the blow hole is on top of the piece" and not out of the front..."this" is usual with blank firers.

Result = Singed and burnt bits and pieces, that if they were yours you would not be very happy at all, and a debate with friends and Surgeons on whether the bits will work properly again ?

This resulted in mostly no`s.

I missed seeing it happen but I did see the aftermath,

Not Pretty...and I have seen some sights over the years.

-----------

The P4 computer I found seems to be dead :-(
but there are still some useful bits to have from it :-)

-----------

London 2600 meeting on friday the 2nd January 2004 at the usual place.

-----------

And thats about it for the last couple of days,
So CSB, and thanks for reading.

*Black powder = loud, smokey and low power
Nitro is black powder that has been doctored with additives and = Several times louder, burns very fast with hardly any smoke and very powerful.

Think along the lines of cheap Banger compared to an Airbomb, fireworks wise.

Observation...My local Sanesburies has a public phone with a wall socket connection and is out of range of the camera ;-)

6.30 am, I confront the Dustbin men about the ripped open recycle orange see through bags and potential ID theft and he say`s You mean the foreigners? yes it`s happening everywhere....

Dr-K turned up with the final draft or proof or whatever it`s called before it goes to print...Heh, it looks like a good read :-)

please leave "NOW" over the tannoy, with 2 tone ding dongs which were going off constantly like a demented high tech "Avon Lady".....

it`s not on fire!...Yeah we "know" that...but it calls the Fire Brigade automatically and we have to stick to the rules.....

Apples do they grow on trees?
well if they do it must be moulting season I have just found yet another Apple 4400/160 but at long last this one has come with a keyboard :-) so I can play...I have now got six Macs and the one thing I have waited for was a keyboard as I have all the other bits...

At the same time I have found a couple of Compaq`s one is a dual processor complete with a matching pair of Pentium 2/400`s using pc100 ram but no ram was with it and no Hdd either...but Heh you can`t have everything :-)

The other is a single processsor Pentium 2 but no chip or Hdd/ram, but uses the same type of ram as the other, it has a riser board allowing the use of three pci and 2 isa slots, both boards are also fully equipped to take scuzi onboard and agp graphics, and on the back sockets another skuzi along with sound and nic connections.

Just after that I found a half breed CB antenna with cable and connectors.

Not a bad night out eh?

I`m knackered, its 4.30am and I have a busy day today as it is the Beach party unplugged and we have to get loadsa firewood for the bonfires.

TTFN
CSB
As usual, thanks for looking in.
