Hi everyone,
Time for a blog again,

Not much to put up this time as I am ill with the "Flu" and have had it for the last two weeks, I don`t think I can remember being as ill as this, ever :-(
I hope that none of you catch it....

A few weeks ago I found a J2 point of sale computer, it`s one of those little computers with a built in screen next to the till, they are usually very low spec` machines connected to a server that runs everything for it. Due to extreme boredom stuck at home etc, I took it apart.

As it turns out it`s not bad at all,
12 inch touch screen with a small scratch
Dual track swipecard reader.
20 gig Seagate HDD,
128 Mb pc2100 ram.
733 Mhz VIA Nehemiah C3 processor, no fan needed....nice and quiet.
3 Usb connectors.
Running on "XP" pro and came with Pervasive.SQL V8, and POSis Backoffice installed.
It gets power from a laptop 19 volt supply, it works well, there was no passwords set up and was set up to use auto settings for the Local area network, There wasn`t much data but there were some "Kentucky Fried Chicken" coporate logos, this being were I assume it came from.
Using a normal EDI cable with two connectors and a splitter cable to share the power I can put a full size CD/DVD/Burner to it, but it would have to live outside the box as there is not enough room inside, I am toying with fitting a laptop CD/DVD into the box if I can find a cable convertor to change it to EDI.

Also due to boredom I decided to give my laptop a makeover :-)
