London Underground Problems

Fun and games again, This time the wrath is saved for the London Underground....

We had yet another derailment at Hammersmith, they managed to keep it off the news....because no one got hurt...
The train had something work loose underneath it, and it started to drag along the track and bits started dropping off followed by a loss of oil....
they decided to send it up a siding were something must have jammed in the points of the track and the debri piled up under the train and derailed it....
They had to comb the track from Acton Town to Hammersmith and search for the missing bits, around a hundred bits, some that were to big for a man to lift ie....generator and engine etc...
It happened 13:00hrs and closed the Piccadilly line all night....

Later on in the week the "powers that be" decided to run operation "Bismark"...this entailed shutting off every bit of power to the tube system, emergency and all.....
They switched it back on to end up with blown escalator motors and ticket machines plus a few problems with the computers etc....they couldn`t handle the surge when the power came rushing back....

I am on the way down the concrete and metal stairs at the tube station and this old lady drops her wheely bag right in front of me....I missed 8 stairs and landed on the stone floor, Result...Bruised coller bone and damaged ligaments to my knee and my Nokia 5100 case smashed to bits where I landed on it, but the phone was still perfectly ok.....
Whist I was in mid air the lady was shouting "oh no I`ve killed him" a couple of times and burst into tears....I hadn`t even hit the ground yet :-l

Now we get to the "Tube strike"....Hmmm
It was due to start at 18:30 hrs but then they decided it may start at 21:30 hrs but not all the staff knew about the time change,
I went to Tottenham court road station to be assured if I get there for 21:30 I would make my connection and get home ok.....
So I dropped in to the pub for a quick pint or two and got to the station 21:15...I got the first train to Leicester square and waited for 25 minutes,a couple of Cyders and cigarettes later I get informed that there is not going to be anymore trains and can we please leave the station.....I stormed over to the guy in charge and explained how unhappy I was etc, No problem he says and takes me to the control room and gives me a seat and then books me a Taxi....go upstairs and there will be one in fifteen minutes, also I will send a guy to go up with you, and wait with you...after five minutes I need a to go for a pee so the guy says theres a pub over the road use their bog, cheers I say back in a few minutes....
One pint later and a pee I get back to the guy saying they wouldn`t let me use the bog with out buying a drink first....

Well...you didn`t expect me to stand there listening to football crap untill the taxi arrived did you ?
The cab turned up and it cost them ?17.50...Cheers guys ;-)

I found a UPS 700 back up power supply the other day, on it, someone had written Scrap, dead battery....I took it home and stuck another battery in it and it seems to work ok :-)

Wish I found UPS's lying around - damn these small cities!

Anyway, I emailed you last week about your email link on your site still being vulnerable to spambots, and about bluetooth devices - but never got a reply.

Either you replied and my spamfilter ate it, you never got the email, or you chose to ignore the advice I gave in the email and not reply.

If its the latter, no problem, but I really would have liked some help with the bluetooth stuff :)

Anyway, Cheers,
Jonty
