Hi everyone,

Well what can you say?....Friday the Thirteenth certainly lived up to it`s reputation today.....

The Gas board sub contractors turned up at the Internet cafe to feed a gas pipe into the basement and up to the flats above, from the street.
They dug a hole......
The hole
bigger hole
Hole gets bigger

Then went into the basement and started drilling through the wall to come out somewhere in their hole.....
The guy pulls out the drill to clear the bit of dust and turns his head away so as not to get it in the face....
Bang.......
The computer rooms shut down one at a time then the lights went out.....
The guy had drilled through a feed cable to the substation around the corner and knocked out several miles of electricity supply.

The drill bit had melted to a point and was charred, the guy was very lucky and only got slightly singed hair and was shocked when he realised how close he was to death.

The guy, who is dark skinned, said "Heh don`t worry I`m ok, I have done this several times before....I was born white...."
The Drill Bit
The Victim

Three and a half hours with no electricity and when it did come on, it was as an emergency supply it was on very low voltage, the bulbs in the lights were at 2/3rd`s there usual power output but the computers seemed happy :-)

There is now a dispute as to whether it is the Owners , the Gas board or the Electicity boards fault....so they put barriers around the hole and fuqed off......

The other thing is...the pipe they are fitting is only designed to supply 4 or at the most 5 flats and they are going to feed 9 flats from it.....
So if the pressure drops when everyone is cooking Sunday dinner, does that mean that the pilot lights might go out and there is a risk of explosion?

Hmmm, maybe going on the Internet isn`t so safe.....

-------------------------

Thats it for now as I have to play with Photochop or there won`t be pictures for this blog.....

Thanks for stopping on by :-)

Yours
The Reverend Rat
