Oral Answers to Questions -- Prime Minister
House of Commons debates, 13 July 2011, 11:30 amDavid Burrowes (Enfield, Southgate, Conservative)
Can I raise with the Prime Minister a different case of hacking--the computer hacker Gary McKinnon? While I recognise that the Home Secretary has a legal process to follow, does the Prime Minister share the concern for my constituent's nine-year nightmare? He feels that his life is literally hanging by a thread that is waiting to be cut by extradition.
David Cameron (Prime Minister; Witney, Conservative)
I do recognise the seriousness of this case, and the Deputy Prime Minister and I actually raised it with President Obama when he visited. I think the point is that it is not so much about the alleged offence, which everyone knows is a very serious offence, and we can understand why the Americans feel so
strongly about it. The case is now in front of my right hon. Friend the Home Secretary, who has to consider reports about Gary McKinnon's health and well-being. It is right that she does that in a proper and effectively--I am sorry to use the word again today--quasi-judicial way.
The Conservative - Liberal Democrat Coalition Government politicians are still dithering.
They have still not yet fulfilled their pre-election promises regarding the Gary McKinnon extradition case.

This case on the romanian security breach of NASA in 2004 looks to be very closely related to Gary McKinnon's case. Only Romania honoured the existing law, whereas England failed to do so.

Dr Mike
I cannot believe this inhumane treatment of Gary and his mother. Even if Gary had of done any of the USA's exagerated infringements - what idiots were they for leaving their web sites unprotected?
If I leave my door unlocked and an inquisitive child wanders in - do I accuse him of burglary and causing damage to my TV which he didn't touch? It is one thing for the Americans to be so childish, but it is humilating for our country to see our leaders bowing and scraping to the USA. IS CAMERON going to make himself look like the poodle the American's made of Blair? Gary should be punished according to UK law - which would be a caution. The USA wants the death sentence spread over 66 years.
Blair Finlay
thing is the US has almost identical laws on double punishment for the same crime. Gary has already been punished in the UK for his crime so the US is breaking the law by trying him in the US. I honestly reckon that the UK government are ignoring the US government in the hope that they forget about all this. If they were as worried about the leak would they not get the UK to give Gary an interdict about talking about it. I have Asperger's myself and have bn diagnosed with it at 9. I can become delusional easily because of it. Gary if you go to the european court of human rights they will say that the US and the UK have taken too long and the whole of europe is saying they're not getting him.
fg
@ Blair Finlay - from the narrow perspective of out of touch lawyers and politicians, Gary has not been "punished" at all i.e. no fine or prison.
Obviously the deliberate political delays in this case, caused entirely caused by the UK and US governments, is an injustice and is, in real life, an actual punishment for Gary and his family and friends.
Gary's case has already gone to the European Court of Human Rights, which refused to consider any human rights aspects of the extradition case.

I refer you to the Government e-Petitions website where someone has had the courage to start a petition to encompass the findings of the Joint Committee on Human Rights, as well as making Parliament enact laws it has already agreed upon. Enable the 'forum bar to extradition' would not only help Gary but hundreds of other people that suffer at the mercy of hypocritical and politically motivated prosecutions that demonstrate nothing but that country's ability to bully UK citizens.
I have also created a Facebook page at the URL below to help publicise this petition.

The U.S. has been reported to have insisted that Gary be extradited because the U.K. has less harsh sentences. However, after some judges in London were criticized for the lenient sentences they gave to Anarchists after the recent riots about two weeks ago they're now giving harsher sentences. For example, that unfortunate young man who got four years in prison for telling people over his cell phone to gather for two demonstrations. According to National Public Radio, no one showed up at either of his riots. But, he's still doing the four years.
So, it's another lie that the U.S. can get away with telling, in order to prejudice Gary's case; for them to maintain that Gary would be treated more leniently in the British justice system.
By the way, I warned British Anarchists to NOT try to bring the U.K. to a standstill. Because, I would bring the U.S. to its knees by 2 August by not paying my taxes and something about a mixup with rental trucks. I did. fg asked how doing those things would help Gary. Now the U.S. is bankrupt and has lost its AAA rating financially. Yet, that poor Anarchist is now doing for years for nothing.
FREE GARY -- When Gary's officially released from the threat of extradition, I'll get drunk on Foster's and rent another 16 footer.

Although Gary Mckinnon did break the law, I believe the government needs to be more linient because it is all out in the open already about all governments working with alien terrestrials. It is already known by other sources that saucers and the FREE ENGERY is already here done by magnets. Therefore, he should have way more liniency because the government at the same time has lied to the people and has not been honest to the people. So good people like Mckinnon trying to help out the society and eco system is being punished by SECRET SOCIETIES such as the FREEMASONS who think they are some type of GOD and can rule everyone. All governments have forgotten how the people are the ones that have been paying taxes and how all tax dollars from all countries are going to government to build underground DUMBS, making cities in ORBIT, concentration camps popping up all over with thousands of body bag coffins. We are paying for all of that and government has lied. Gary Mckinnon brought the truth out and there should be some liniency and the government needs to let everyone know the extra terrestrials are here and have been here years before us. Let the aliens finally talk among the people but not with hostility and anger nor threats. IT IS OUT, the government knows it is out. PEOPLE ALL OVER KNOW all about the UNDERGROUND DUMBS, LABORATORIES IN DULCE, AREA 51 and 52. IT IS ALL OUT stop threatening people and murdering people because they know. IT IS TIME to let everyone know the truth is already out. ACCORDING to bible GOD will come at the end to judge the living and the dead.

It is now Thursday 29 September 2011. Is the Cameron Conservative government supposed to settle Gary's long suffering by this month's end (Gawd, I wish I was British and had studied Shakespeare, but then again I can always change an "ah" sound at the end of words to an "ar" sound. Or am I listening too much to the BBC?). Yes, I'm drunk on Foster's. Thank you Gary for turning me on to this exquisite brew. I plan to stay drunk on Foster's for the rest of my life as a tribute to Gary and Jay (-rod) who had to have been the one who turned on Gary. I wish I had the coconuts to smoke weed as Gary did at one time. But, us Americans are a conservative lot.
Level 7 at Dulce is a U.S./German Nazi secret laboratory that conducts inhuman experiments on abducted people. There are no Extraterrestrials. The Americans just want us to think there are so that they won't be tried for crimes against humanity and executed. As a U.S. Army Veteran, I have to state that unfortunately, most of the abductees on Level 7 are U.S. military personel. I will free them just as I brought the U.S. government to its knees, economically. I don't need English Anarchists or Radicals - not even Free Radicals. Thank you.
Paul Gray
If worst case he had to serve time on US soil he could be held on a US airforce base located in the UK. This whilst not ideal would allow family to vist, avoids being exposed to the prison populus (which would be bad) and would help appease that aspect. As for any or length of sentence beyond what currently been exposed too I can not say. This approach could also be used to hold a trial on legal USA soil whilst still being located in the UK and would help accomodate facilitating a defence. But that would be a worst case comprimise which would be fairer than alternatives. Indeed he could probably serve his time helping train there people against such attacks which would be good ethical training for Gary and benificial to the offended party, that and I'm sure he would enjoy that than this current drag on that can only cause anxiety levels akin to tourture.
fg
@ Paul Gray - not possible!
Thankfully there are no US military bases in the UK which are sovereign or quasi sovereign US territory.
Even the most sensitive US military bases in the UK are all Royal Air Force bases and are still British sovereign territory e.g,
fg
@ Eochaidh - it is a Conservative / Liberal Democrat Coalition government which has not fulfilled its pre-election promises, exactly like President Barack Obama (e.g. the Guantanamo Bay concentration camp is still open).
The increasingly up its own arse Labour party did not bother to mention Extradition or human rights or freedom or civil liberties etc. even once at the recent Party conference in Liverpool.
The Labour party, supposedly, Her Majesty's Official Opposition. should be holding the current Government to account over Gary McKinnon and other cases involving unfair Extradition to the USA - it should be easy to score political points over the dismal record of the Government, but Labour have not uttered a single word, presumably because their own record in Government is so authoritarian, yet inept..
Their stupid frontbench Culture spokesman Ivan Lewis did suggest a much ridiculed plan for the "registration of journalists", so they do seem to have learned something from their friendship with and support of dictators like Ghaddafi in Libya or Assad in Syria etc..
No doubt they will be also trying to suppress blogs like this one which have been critical of Government politicians and bureaucrats.
Eochaidh MacDhalaigh OghaChruithne
It's good to know that the MoD has the backbone to not turn over any territory in the UK to the Americans. It's not anti-American, it's self-respect.
"but Labour have not uttered a single word, presumably because their own record in Government is so authoritarian, yet inept.."
It's more fg. In addition to Laobour's own record in preventing it from doing its duty, the American government may have an undue influence on some Labour members. In addition to the traditional black-mail, bribes, and self loathing, used by the C.I.A. to control foreigners, it's much more likely that American and international corporations, Lady Thatcher's New World Order, who own the U.S. government, probably control some Labour members, as well. So, no one could ever trace Labour's treason, if treason it is, back to the C.I.A. MI6 will never have to answer to the British people for its failures to protect Britons including Gary, from the Americans.
Oh, here's the solution to the N.W.O.: require businesses that incorporate to allow only the employess of the particular corporation to elect the officers and board of directors (or governors). That way, the employees are the ones who elect the officers who can terminate their employment "at will" resulting in them losing their houses, cars, children's tennis lessons, braces on their teeth, etc. Investors can still decide to invest or not in a corporation's common stock if the corporation seems like a good bet or not. Also, democracy in business would do away with the need for labour unions and the Labour Party.
