The Daily Mail is a right of centre, politically powerful, daily newspaper, and it is wholeheartedly supporting Gary McKinnon in his legal fight against extradition to the USA, with today's front page article, and subsidiary articles, including their own online petition.

An affront to British Justice
Dear Home Secretary,
I believe the extradition of Gary McKinnon to the U.S. is unjust and inhumane because as an Asperger's sufferer a long prison sentence would be catastrophic for his mental health.
I urge you to use your discretion to allow him to be tried by an English court.

One theory of mine , is that both government's in Britian & the U.S in particular , are secretly very upset with him as he did actually discover and download an image of an incredibly hi- tech space craft above the earth , quite possibly of extraterrestrial origin ! If he had hacked into those computers and found nothing of great interest , he may of got off for on a much lesser offence .I've noticed Gary doesn't even mention at present that he did download a UFO image , the very thing that satisfied his reason for doing it in the first place . Maybe it's for his own good and for the interest of the Governments that the less said about the image that he downloaded ... the better . Possibily .

Funny, how the British Goverment cannot deport terroists, roaming this country.Yet are willing to hand over a British citizen to America. Why can he not be tried in this country, were the affence took place?

We fight their wars, we allow them to take our citizens for trial, we help them to send suspects to other countries for interrogation. Our political leaders bow and scrape for their attention.
Britain is now part of the American Empire.
We are no longer strong enough to stand on our own in the world. We have to choose between being a very minor accessory to the USA or a strong partner in Europe.
I would go for Europe any day.

Does anyone remember me posting my analysis several years ago, that a Pentagon assassin (Special Forces) would probably be ordered to bust a cap in Gary's head or put two .22s in the back of Gary's head? You all probably thought I was deranged - instead, "I know my people." But, by posting it, here, I saved Gary's life. The Pentagon does have a hit list.
fg, by allowing my analysis to be posted here, forced Her Majesty's Government to take extra-precautions concerning Gary and his family. MI6 and\or MI5 probably told fg and Gary that I'm the threat, but, now we know the truth. At least two professional killers in camoflauge uniforms tried to shoot and kill me while I was camping after I warned Gary. The incident is on report with the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Department.
My analysis now is that these guys are thoroughly incompetent and Gary doesn't have anything to worry about - certainly, HMG won't allow Gary to be extradited.

"CIA operatives and Special Forces death squads have been authorized to kill US citizens abroad, suspected of terrorist involvement, Blair saying:
"If we think that direct action will involve killing an American, we get specific permission to do that," the criteria being "whether that American is involved in a group that is trying to attack us, whether that American is a threat to other Americans. Those are the factors involved. We don't target people for free speech. We target them for taking action that threatens Americans or has resulted in it," based on suspicions, not evidence."
"Muslim cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, a US citizen living in Yemen, was perhaps the first "announced" candidate, targeted for opposing US belligerency, not crimes."
"In late June, Deputy White House National Security Adviser for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism, John O. Brennan, acknowledged a hit list with dozens of other names, saying:
"There are, in my mind, dozens of US persons who are in different parts of the world, and they are very concerning to us, not just because of the passport they hold, but because they understand our operational environment here, they bring with them certain skills, whether it be language skills or familiarity with potential targets, and they are very worrisome, and we are determined to take away their ability to assist with terrorist attacks."
"If an American person or citizen is in Yemen or in Pakistan or in Somalia or another place, and they are (suspected of) trying to carry out attacks against US interests, they also will face the full brunt of a US response. What we need to do is to apply the appropriate tool and the appropriate response," leaving little doubt what he meant, putting all Americans at risk globally, based on suspicions, not proof - potential targets for lawless assassinations with impunity."

@ Honybear -
I have never discussed , directly or indirectly, the Gary McKinnon case with either MI% the Security Service or MI5 the Secret Intelligence Service.
gary McKinnon is well known enough that it would have to be a criminally incompetent Government official who for some reason decided to disobey his primary instinct to "Cover Your Backside" to be even remotely associated with any plans to harm Gary.
There is a slight danger from mentally unstable people who might seek, to glorify themselves or to pursue their own inane agendas (over the years, we have quite of few people like this email death and rape fantasy threats to this web site), but all "media celebrities" get some of this.
How can you prove that it was not a "hunting accident" in Hidalgo county ?

One of the armed men ran down a ravine that my two dogs and I had just climbed out of in order to go around his pickup truck on the road. It's sort of like the F.B.I. - if a car comes toward me, it a deadly weapon and threat, but if it's driving away from me, it's not.
