Probably no extradition until February when the DPP (Director of Public Prosecutions) makes a decision..
ZDnet report:
McKinnon extradition on hold until February
Still no word yet on the actual oral Judaical Review application.
Elle Hart, Elec.Eng.Tech.
We support you 100% Gary and hope logic prevails and decisions are made in your favor.
booski
Great news on that 4 week extension while the DPP have a think.
Hoping they have sense to do the right thing and undertake the matter here in the uk and not in the us.
Considering its a one sided extradition process and the same would not apply to a US citizen breaking into defense networks of the UK this should have been cleared up a long time ago.
best of luck gary.

Judicial Review decision on Friday ?
The Ham & High local newspaper group in North London reports:

Good Luck with the DPP

The report is the culmination of a 14-month effort, organized by the Center for Strategic and International Studies, to help the next president of the United States create a more effective cyberspace policy. The task force formed amongst increasing worries that state-sponsored spies and online intruders were breaching sensitive government and industry computer systems, stealing valuable information.
For the past two years, congressional committees have taken an increasing interest in federal agencies' failure to protect themselves against online attacks. The Department of State acknowledged in June 2006 that attackers had installed remote access software on systems in the agency and abroad, stolen passwords and targeted information on China and North Korea. In October 2006, the Department of Commerce took hundreds of computers offline following a series of attacks aimed at federal employees' computer accounts by online thieves that appear to be based in China. Last month, Newsweek reported that computers at both the Obama campaign and the McCain campaign had been breached during the summer by what U.S. officials stated were foreign attackers.
While many policy makers and security experts worried about terrorist-sponsored cyberattacks following September 11, the most damaging intrusions have been those that have led to the loss of intellectual property, the report stated. The loss from such attacks is hard to gauge, said James Lewis, a senior fellow with the Center for Strategic and International Studies, who worked on the commission report. One government agency who fights such attacks estimated losses in the billions of dollars, he said.
Interesting article - apparently the US still has not stepped through a security manual - instead just whinning to the government for money. If you ask me this little report is an ommission of guilt.

- I think if people like Dick Cheney are now out of the way - Obama's 'transition team' would drop the pursuit of Gary in a second if it were sufficiently brought to their attention.
Steve Bassett [http://ParadigmResearchGroup.org and Washing ton Exopolitics X-Conference] is currently aiming to get a meeting with the Obama lot on disclosure related issues.
Let's hope the 'regime change' has influenced the legal team so the UK side feel less pressure and we can sort this thing out once and for all here.

OBAMA: WE WILL "DO OUR BUSINESS IN THE LIGHT OF DAY"
http://www.fas.org/sgp/news/secrecy/2009/01/012109.html
President Barack Obama found room in his inaugural address to affirm a commitment to open, accountable government.
"And those of us who manage the public's knowledge will be held to account, to spend wisely, reform bad habits and do our business in the light of day, because only then can we restore the vital trust between a people and their government," the President said.
There are several notable aspects to this formulation. First, it clearly states that government information belongs to the public and that it is only temporarily managed by its current custodians in office. It reasserts the original constitutional linkage between public disclosure and wise government spending. It acknowledges the need for reform and correction of bad government information habits. And it implicitly recognizes that the vital relationship of trust between the people and the government has been broken and needs to be restored.
Ahem - I wonder if this means the news ban on Gary McKinnon will be lifted, and that the American people will be told about how the US Military IT security failed misserably to protect critical information prior and post nine one one due to Microsoft's out-of-box-security-flaw...

Why are "those" that have changed the law in the U.S. not been held responsible for their lame action..?
Why has been only looked to what Gary has done wrong?
What does a apologize mean after wanting to harm Gary?
ETC!
This case is complete running LAME. If this will end like how its wanted by them or just Gary been punished then this is one case is the biggest proove of a lie been completed.
A court case complete runned just to turn our planet evil. Nothing prooves right with going like this. Who want it going more bad?
Its time to ADD the REAL criminals to the "real crimal list", to atleast make this thing hear "a fair court" to our planet.
Hopefully the writer of these books doesnt let them play the show and adds them to the thing they belong!

Sorry to sound anti, but why did he do this? Has he apologised to the USA? And did he think he would not get caught and have the full weight of the USA against him? Has he hacked our security systems?
A friend of mine is the leading UK expert on UFO's why didn't he just write him a letter to find the truth?
Gary, I hope you catch a break on this - but life is not like the movies. Why the hell do you think they were going to do pat you on the back and thank you for exploring your ease of breaking in?
I hope common sense prevails, but as none was shown at the start, why will it be at the end.
My thoughts are with you and your family, friends, etc. Stay strong, take the decision and the punishment. Then we can work to free you.
Sorry if this is too honest and people will hate me, but I have witnessed and filmed UFO's but never needed to hack into systems. The truth is out there, just ask.

Great news this morning that at last some common sense is being applied in the UK judicial system towards this case. I have always considered Gary to be misguided, rather than a miscreant. If there is a punishment to be handed out for his actions, it must be a punishment which fits the crime, not a punishment that perpetuates an injustice.

Gary has a beautiful sole and is beautiful to me, it saddens me on how you judge people on their looks!
Remember not all hackers are evil and out to get people! If you know anything about this case you would know that he was seeking the TRUTH and wanted to help people!
For Gary, well done on winning today!!!

Hi.... the American government are obviously using there over powering and domninating aura again..this could also be known as paranoia or extremism...lets get to the point here..Gary mckinnon.hacked into the pentagon web site(s) due to curiosity and interest in a certain subject..he did this with probably an excited but cool head and had no malicious thoughts to endanger people or peoples...IF the Us government had security measures in place to stop such actions.. then the information that he wanted to seek could not have been found,i think its very possible that the Us government is trying to kill three birds with one stone here and that is 1) use Gary as a deterrent
2) hurt gary because of the huge embarrassment this has been to the USA
3)and let other hackers realise that if they hack into sensitive USA web sites they will be found. and caught ( media spin)(deterrent)
If the British government allows Gary to be extradited that should only be under the terms that he carry out his sentance in Britain and for the same length that the same crime would punished in the UK.
If he gets convicted and has to carry out his sentance in the USA and gets a very unbalanced verdict ..... i hope the British government will open there eyes and do eveything in there might to bring him back... i hope that and pray that the whole country will fight and show the people concernedwhat a major mistake they have made..

Hi gary, hope you pack a nice new orange jumpsuit for your holiday in guantanamo !!!!!

Gary won't need an orange jumpsuit. Obama's in charge now, as decent American citizens have voted out the old vindictive past that ruined Americas reputation throughout the world.
Americans have voted for a man with compassion that wants to restore unity and to restore the reputation of America.
The Bush administration wanted to turn nations against each other, Obama wants to bring people together.
The bullying attitude of the former leaders of America, were causing serious division between the people of the U.S and the U.K
Time to move on and to lose the insanity and vindictivness of the past.
It's a brand new day!

There is just one thing wrong with the hacker god, lord of all hackers...well no two things really...first, you want to bust into our systems, at least get a better excuse than Asperger's. I have it and hate hacker's more than the idiots that dare to dis our government. Daddy knows what you were looking for Gary...I think you may remember me Gary Boy no I guess you wouldn't...Second take my word on this Gary McKinnon is guilty 100%. 2l84u2c

Ouch! Someone sounds angry, personal and almost jealous but how could anyone be jealous of someone having gone through seven years of hell.
Only you and no one else has called Gary McKinnon God.
Gary McKInnon is happy to be tried in his own country, however he is rightly fighting extradition to the U.S.
Under common law Gary McKinnon has a right to be tried by a jury of his peers and common law is the only real law.
No one had to bust into your systems as your security was virtually non existent. There were no passwords and no firewalls befor and after 9/11.
Haven't you even stopped to consider that perhaps you have traitors in your military, otherwise why would they be so super neligent and leave Amricans wide open to attack.
Thank God it was Gary McKinnon that eventually woke them up and alerted them.
If you aren't glad that it was Gary McKinnon that "walked in", rather than it being a real terrorist discovering you had no security, then you'd have to be crazy.
Why should we take yours or anyone elses word when what is required is actual evidence of the alleged damage to be produced in court in order for it to be rebutted.
Just as we would have to produce evidnce of damage if we wanted to extradite an American...
However the U.K would never dream of extraditing somone for an eccentric crime as it's a total waste of the courts time and of the countries money which could be far better used to track down the real terrorists that this one sided treaty was supposed to be used for.
Extradition was meant to be used to bring back murderers etc. It was not meant to be used by another country taking the p.ss and using the treaty frivolously and irresponsibly.
Now that Obama is in power we might get a more sensible approach and you might get better security.
2l84u2c
First, let me say Gary didn’t walk in to NASA and the DOD.
Second, I know he didn’t because I was tracking him.
Third, he may have been looking for UFO’s but I think that it must have been a flashback.
Forth, I know what he was looking for and obviously found it.
Fifth, I also know that SOLO is not an appropriate name when it’s more than one.
Sixth, you want to know what Asperger’s is like ask me and I will tell you how it is.
Seventh, I know about computers and genetics which will hurt Gary’s case of Asperger’s.
Eighth, 7 years of hell for breaking into secure governmental computers is nothing, it needs to be 70 years of hell.
Ouch! Someone sounds angry, personal and almost jealous but how could anyone be jealous of someone having gone through seven years of hell.
You want hell try having Asperger’s your whole life if you want real hell, he wouldn’t know that. Jealous, well I would be if he was watching me…but he wasn’t, I was watching him…and have followed his story…which by the way again if you knew anything about computers doesn’t add up.
Only you and no one else has called Gary McKinnon God.
He better be because he needs to be to refute the evidence that’s coming his way.
Gary McKInnon is happy to be tried in his own country, however he is rightly fighting extradition to the U.S.
When the crime is done in the US I guess that’s what happens. Tell you what if I ever do criminal activity in England you have my permission to give me the punishment I deserved in your country. But that won’t happen, I’m Asperger’s and I don’t commit crimes.
Under common law Gary McKinnon has a right to be tried by a jury of his peers and common law is the only real law.
That may be in England, but when you do things of National Security in America it’s a different story.
No one had to bust into your systems as your security was virtually non existent. There were no passwords and no firewalls befor and after 9/11.
I know right! The first thing security people do after something like 9/11 is say ok everyone let’s really loosen up our computer systems….except the Military and NASA you guy’s shouldn’t have any. It’s obvious you know absolutely nothing about computer security…but, I’ll bet you know everything about UFO’s right, no wait he couldn’t download that stuff…sorry.
Haven't you even stopped to consider that perhaps you have traitors in your military, otherwise why would they be so super neligent and leave Amricans wide open to attack.
See above.
Thank God it was Gary McKinnon that eventually woke them up and alerted them.
This doesn’t even deserve a response.
If you aren't glad that it was Gary McKinnon that "walked in", rather than it being a real terrorist discovering you had no security, then you'd have to be crazy.
In my eye’s Gary McKinnon is a terrorist, again see above for security.
Why should we take yours or anyone elses word when what is required is actual evidence of the alleged damage to be produced in court in order for it to be rebutted.
Just as we would have to produce evidnce of damage if we wanted to extradite an American...
And that is exactly what I plan to do…then we’ll see how many people think Gary is just a victim.
However the U.K would never dream of extraditing somone for an eccentric crime as it's a total waste of the courts time and of the countries money which could be far better used to track down the real terrorists that this one sided treaty was supposed to be used for.
So… what you are saying then is ANYONE, terrorist or not, can access the UK’s high level governmental, military computers then claim “I was just looking for UFO’s” then when cornered they could say “I have a disability”? Oh… I think your government would understand alright. From what I know, I am confident that you can prove existence of UFO’s and cover-up easier than Gary can prove his innocence.
Extradition was meant to be used to bring back murderers etc. It was not meant to be used by another country taking the p.ss and using the treaty frivolously and irresponsibly.
The security holes he opened from his so called “walking in stunt” specifically with the Chinese Communist Government, believe me will definitely make him an accessory to murder. Remember SOLO did not act alone.
Now that Obama is in power we might get a more sensible approach and you might get better security.
Yes, because our President doesn’t mind people just “walking in” to our military and NASA computers to bring the UFO cover-up to his attention. He will probably thank Gary with flowers for showing him how loose we are on security. Think again, personally I think he’s going to be a really good president and fair but cutting out all of my sarcasm this guy is guilty and I intend to prove it.
PS…ask Gary if he plays online poker.
fg
@ 2l84u2c - if you really were involved in tracking Gary's activities, then you would, or should know better than to prejudice any future US prosecution and your security clearance with false accusations about terrorism, espionage or being "accessory to murder".
The prosecutor Scott Stein, the Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, clearly reassured the US public back in 2002, that Gary had acted alone, was not part of any terrorist or espionage group, and had not accessed anything that compromised national security. Are you calling him a liar ?
If there was the slightest evidence that any of these allegations of your had any substance, then Gary would have been languishing in a high security prison here in the Uk awaiting extradition, under our very draconian anti-terrorism laws, but our Police and intelligence agencies know that he poses no such risk.
How exactly can you "prove" anything different ?
If you are employed anywhere near the US military, then they should investigate you and revoke any security clearance, as you appear to be an easy target for false flag recruitment by a foreign intelligence agency or criminal gang.
John
More false allegations that can very easily be disproved. Gary was in his flat and everyone who knows him knows he was alone on his "dial Up" computer and this has been confirmed by the High Tech crime unit and the American prosecutors, which is why they offered him a year or two in a proposed plea bargain.
Most hackers will tell you that the Chinese have been wandering around American Computer systems for years long before Gary and are still doing so until this day, which is widely reported by Robert Gates of Homeland Security.
You may well intend to continue to "manufacture evidence" as you are obviously attention seeking but you clearly have no inside information whatsoever.
Gary has had lifelong Aspergers Syndrome as confirmed by two top doctors in their field and by the Judges after "seeing" the evidence.
Your intention is to attempt to distribute false information which can easily be proven as false.
Gary has never been in America and our laws are what counts. He should be tried here just as other hackers who have hacked into American computers have, even after 9/11.
It was an American civilian establishment that "tracked Gary" and came out and said Gary had caused No damage to their computers, so those indictments were quietly withdrawn.
There is proof/actual evidence that Gary acted alone and that he's far from an expert.
If anyone could bring down the American miltary systems from a dial up machine, that is a very sad and dangerous state of affairs and they should be grateful to Gary for alerting them.
The truth is they shut down their own systems as a precaution and rightly so, as there were Chinese and Russians "wandering" around there and there still are apparently.
The alleged damage, is that shutting down of their own systems.
Your wild unfounded and totally wrong allegations confirm that you have no in depth knowledge of this case or of Gary or of the statements made by the High-Tech crime unit and the prosecution.
Perhaps you're trying to make a name for yourself on the back of someone elses misery. You just might gain a very bad name for yourself and be prosecuted in the process.
Could we extradite you? If you're American I doubt it as our government have signed a one sided treaty with the American government that has encouraged them to extradite British citizens on a whim.
The U.S is attempting to extradite our bookmakers, our British Airways executives, our Hoteliers aged in their seventies, entrepeneurs, people that legally sell electrical equipment and chemicals online etc
The U.S are taking the p.ss simply because they can, since this new one sided treaty was signed introduced by our government.
Where are the terrorists that this treaty was supposed to be used against?
A bit like Osama Bin Forgotten....so who else will America target next.
Will America "threaten" our government again as David Milliband recently told our Judges they do, to ensure that our courts don't/can't expose the truth.
Now go and try and find some real Terrorists instead of making up nonsense in order to try and gain attention.

I think if someone is a British citizen they should not be extradited to a foreign country.
I hope the Home Secretary can see that people are not going to let this happen.
