san francisco summer is here. fog. 60f (16c). it's light until nearly 9pm, but a bit bleak nonetheless. this will pass. september will come. and, honestly, in the meantime, it's not so bad either. in the spirit of the season, i present you with episode 355. some thoughts about memory and evolution, some songs, and hopefully some hope along with. i'd love it if you'd listen... ;)
tonight finds me with episode 354, and three songs i'm proud of. it feels awkward to use the word "pride" somehow - as if it's wrong or improper to admit. i'm not sure why that is exactly, but i imagine it must have something to do with the fact that pride and arrogance and delusion are so often related?? i guess rightly so. but i mean pride only in the slim/simple sense of being happy with how things came out... perhaps an amalgamation of the definition below - "a reasonable or justifiable delight or elation arising from feeling that you've said something the way you mean it." something along those lines. i hope it's not wrong or conceited or arrogant to say so.
at any rate, it's how i truly feel about these songs. i'm happy for them, imperfect as they are. like a proud parent - standing on the sidelines - saying "wow." simply astonished. "i don't know where you got those genes from kid, but i'm so happy i was dumb and lucky enough to have you!!"
if you have a chance, i really hope you'll take a listen... :)
ps - the definition
pride (noun): the quality or state of being proud: as
a : inordinate self-esteem : conceit
b : a reasonable or justifiable self-respect
c : delight or elation arising from some act, possession, or relationship (parental pride)
good evening, and welcome to july! tonight brings us to episode 353, and three brand new songs. they're new/new songs (two of them were born today) so, despite (or because of??) their fragility, i hope you'll join me in welcoming them... :)
amidst the songs, it's just me wondering and doubting and rambling aloud, per usual - mostly about the songs, and inspiration, and the importance of choosing to live the lives and be the people we want and need and aspire to. simple stuff, maybe. i know. but sometimes the simple obvious things are the ones i need the most.
i invite you to join me, and hope you will. <3
