five years!!

friends,

welcome to sunday night, and a special weekend five-year-anniversary edition of the podcast! as mentioned, i’m leaving town in the morning, and should be returning the first week of september. if all goes well, i hope to be able to podcast somewhere between now and then. not sure if this will be possible?? at any rate, i'll be on the lookout for available free wi-fi.

until then, i leave you with episode 257 – featuring three of my most-favorite songs by nick guerrero and nico bailey, and some thoughts on emily brontë’s (only) novel wuthering heights. i hope you can listen. i also hope you’ll stay-tuned to the rss. I promise to be back asap!

links to our guests:
the artist - nick guerrero
the author - emily brontë
the novel - wuthering heights
the tragic - catherine (earnshaw) linton
the maniacal - heathcliff

love,
russell

live from maryland u.s.a.

friends,

good evening, and welcome to tuesday night! thanks to everyone for staying tuned despite the absence of a podcast last week. i’ve been back home for a few days now, and just uploaded episode 256 – recorded late last week in national harbor maryland. the outcome is a bit unfocused and rambling (i fear) but – regardless – the songs by nick guerrero are very much worth your listen. i hope you will.

as i mentioned on the podcast, I will be leaving town again this weekend, and won’t return home until early september. between here and there, the fifth anniversary of the podcast will be occurring – so – if nothing else – i plan to post something this weekend in honor of the occasion. i hope you’ll stick with me, and check in often.

albeit old-skool – this is the only link i can find to nick guerrero. his music is really good. you should check it.

cheers,
russell

outta town

friends,

i’m leaving town in the morning, but – before I do – just want to send a quick weekend hello. there won’t be a normally scheduled tuesday podcast this week, but i hope you can take a listen to episode 255 in the interim.

if you don’t already own a copy of kathleen dunbar’s cd finally home, or danny scherr’s cd richmond special, you should!

more soon,
russell

farewell to arms

friends,

happy tuesday! episode 254 is here, and brings us to a few demo songs from 2009 (stare decisis and the most), along with a new home recording (i believe in g-d), and some thoughts about ernest hemingway’s novel a farewell to arms. if you have time, i really hope you'll take a listen.

even more - if you don’t already know it - a farewell to arms is highly recommended from me to you. i just finished re-reading this past sunday night. frederic henry and catherine barkely will be stuck in my thoughts for some time to come.

wishing you a great week. wherever you are.

love,
russell
