| Power Lead The power lead is approximately 8 feet long and is intended to be cut as needed. The lead ends in two wires of different colors but they are not polarized at all. You can connect them to a 12 or 24 volt DC in either direction. You do not need to worry about which is plus and which is minus. The unit will make all the adjustments internally. The power consumption of the unit is about 0.5 amp at 12 volts. If connected to a higher voltage, the current load will remain at 0.5 amps. So connecting to 12 volts is the most economical. The unit will fail if connected to more than 35 volts. The unit will behave erratically, if connected to voltages less then 11.5 volts, however the unit will not be harmed. The power lead should exit through the top of the antenna clamp. It should follow the RG6 video signal wire until they both are secured to the deck or other appropriate point of connection. There should be enough length left for both the signal and power lead to allow the antenna mast to revolve freely. You should fuse the power lead for three amps. The unit is internally thermally protected and self resetting and does not need any additional fuses. However, any length of wire which carries power should be fuse closely to the power supply to prevent a fire do to abrasion of the wire as it passes through hidden portions of the vessel. |
