         <title>George makes criminal referral on mine safety</title>

         <title>CCTimes Lisa V on George&apos;s Birthday Party</title>
         <description><![CDATA[<div align="center"><img style="max-width: 800px;" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3027/2613770139_7092e77b32_m.jpg" /><img style="max-width: 800px;" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3208/2613775537_35bfbf4882_m.jpg" height="166" width="249" /><br /></div><br />Hundred's of friends, family, and longtime supporters showed up this past Friday for George's birthday/fund-raiser in Pleasant Hill, California. <br /><br />While it was hard to top last year's special guest, newly minted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, this year longtime liberal activist and Hollywood action star, Danny Glover, kept the audience on its feet with some rousing rhetoric of his own.<br /><br />The Contra Costa Time's Lisa Vorderbrueggen was there and had <a href="http://www.ibabuzz.com/insidepolitics/2008/05/02/danny-glover-fetes-rep-george-miller/#more-683">this to say</a>:<br /><blockquote><i>"Surrounded by his grandchildren, Miller, who turns 63 on May 17, took his opportunity at the microphone to recount some of his legislative battles of the past year and half since the Democrats took majority control of Congress.<br /><br />And yes, since you asked, he likes it.
