NetAlert.net defines Phishing as the practice whereby a fraudster who is pretending to be from a legitimate organization, sends misleading emails requesting personal and financial details from unsuspecting people.

Next time you get a fake Ebay or PayPal email asking you to update your account, first don’t respond and next copy and past the sites internet address into PhishTank.com.  PhishTank.com is like an online neighborhood watch site that logs and blocks confirmed phishing sites.

Here is an easy way for a LEO to save some money.  If you are in the market for some anti-virus software, save yourself a couple of bucks and give Grisoft’s AVG anti-virus a shot.  I have been using the software for a couple of months now and I have no complaints.  The control panel is easy to use and the free software version offers regular, automatic virus database updates.  AVG protects your computer for free and is available for both Windows and Linux.

Kiplinger Magazine’s “Best Of” issue spotlights Site59.com and Kayak.com for travel and airfare deals.  Kayak.com searches over 150 sites with one search request. The only major drawback is that the site doesn’t search some major discount carriers such as Southwest. Even so, I still think the site is worth a look. 

Site59.com puts together last minute travel packages that work within your budget.  You can book flights as far as two weeks out or as soon as three hours before take-off on domestic flights.
